Does it ever end?
We were at week 8 in school when it all began. *C* comes home with what we thought was a tummy upset by some bad pizza and turned into two days of tummy pains so bad we were shifting from warm compresses to hot baths to ease the pain. I decided to take him to the urgent care to hopefully be told we had a some gas on our hands. On our way into the facility I looked back at my son in the dark just as he was passing under a street light and then I saw it.....a bald patch on his head! I said *C* aren't you old enough by now to know not to cut your own hair.He responded with a "your crazy mom" look on his face. I then walked up to him and touched it and got a closer look and thought hmmm....looks like the cradle cap *G* has except he has lost all his hair in the area! No big deal we will just ask the doc about this as well. So once we get into the hospital we are pushed into a room in the back to help protect *G* from any germs the ten plus kids in the waiting room may have! Thank the Lord because at this point *G* is screaming for some dinner! Finally in to see the dr he diagnoses *C* with possible ulcer and orders antacids and then informs me that my son isn't suffering from premature balding BUT a ring worm!WHAT!?!?!They are highly contagious he says so get the other kids to the dr once theirs show up as well...then he sent us on our way! Once home I think ok we can handle this little ring worm and I searched all other children's bodies and we were all clear!! Phewwww..... we were safe only one kid with it and didn't even break a sweat getting it taken care of...till one night 3 days later *C* woke up shivering and shaking with a fever and tears rushing out as he moaned make it stop! So off to the ER we went at 2am. We were immediately put in a room followed by a doctor ( no nurse to poke first) which terrified me...I was so sure were facing appendectomy for sure! But after some blood work, urine sample, and a swab of the throat were diagnosed with strep........let the games begin! Don't get me wrong I was more than thrilled that we were leaving that morning with all organs intact but I knew that the games had really just begun! Being I have 5 kids at home I knew we were not off scot - free. Once home I made him some oatmeal tucked him into bed and I crawled in under my covers I thought to myself which child will be next.........it never occurred to me what else we were about to face! So the next day *C* was ordered to stay in bed except for potty breaks. All food and meds would be taken at bedside. All was going pretty until two days later just as I was thinking we were actually going to get away with only having one child have strep, *D* comes creeping in holding his tummy with the same whimper *C* had. So off to get a warm wash cloth and call the dr to get more antibiotics. The very next day we found not one.....not two.....not three.....but four more people with the dreaded worm! We ended that day with a trip to the dr to get *E* and *D* diagnosed and treated for strep and ring worm. Two days following that it was *F*'s turn to get treated. So I had 4 kids in beds going bonkers because once they got a taste of the medicine they wanna play all the while itching their worms and fighting over whose is worse! So you think wow what a busy two weeks, good thing everyone is now being treated and things can start clearing up....WRONG! *D* decided to come home with LICE his first day back at school after being sick! So off to the porch to get the whole head shaved immediately! (We had this last year and it took months of retreating to get it all gone!) So the next morning I had to try and drag a 42lb 7 year old out kicking and screaming to the car because he didn't want anyone to see his bald head! Finally after 30 minutes of debating, bribing and failing to drag him to the car I convinced him to wear a hat and to politely explain to his teacher the circumstances and ask if he can wear his hat. So off he went very unsure if it would work and a little push from me to get him out of the van once we pulled up! And come to find out the whole class had an out break and the teacher allowed him to wear his hat after all.Praise the Lord that God had thought I had dealt with enough that *D* was the only child to be so lucky to come home full of lice! So as all the kids finally lice free, worm free, and strep free returned to school guess what momma is home doing this week?!?! YEP! pumping herself full of vitamins, water ,and benadryl fighting off the after affects! Who said being a Mom was boring!!!
